The dome is the housing that holds the blade shaft at the base of the jar; the gasket is the rubber seal that sits between the dome and the jar base and keeps liquid inside. Supplied together as a set so the seal and the seating face are matched — no fitting a new dome against a hardened old gasket. The 1.0 litre jar is the everyday multipurpose jar, used for masalas, rava, coffee, dals and dry spices, and for smaller quantities of chutney, paste and semi-wet batter.
