The safety plug (safety valve) for Preethi pressure cookers. It is a hexagonal metal plug with a rubber washer, as in the photo.
It is a back-up safety device. If the steam vent gets blocked and the pressure rises too high, the plug lets the steam out. Replace it if it has blown, if steam leaks around it, or if its washer is hard or cracked.
