Hawkins' safety valve for the Bigboy 18 litre and 22 litre pressure cookers (code SVBB), in Hawkins' Bigboy box.
Like every Hawkins safety valve, it is a back-up: its metal centre melts and lets out steam if the pressure rises too high, for example when the cooker boils dry or the vent tube is blocked. Replace it once it has fused, or if it leaks or is damaged, and clean the vent tube before cooking again.
Check before you order: Hawkins lists two safety valves on the 18 and 22 litre Bigboy, so check which one needs changing. The Bigboy 14 litre and the smaller Hawkins cookers take the standard Hawkins safety valve (SV).
